How Does it Work? There are number of different stages in the massage each having a different purpose and effect on the face.
The purpose at the start of the massage is to relax the client. Then to achieve a significant effect on the facial tissue we need to remove tension from the underlying muscles in the neck, shoulder and scalp. These muscles not only pull on the skin from underneath, but also affect healthy blood supply to the facial skin.
The next stage is a series of firm stroking movements to the face. These stimulate better circulation and lymphatic drainage in the face, and also stretch the collagen and elastin fibres in the dermis to stimulate their flexibility. Skin will look better for longer if it is flexible and has good circulation.
It is well known that a healthy balanced body looks more attractive than an unhealthy one, so the treatment includes some important acupressure points that improve health and digestion.
An important stage in the massage is the “Lift”. We are all too aware that the muscles of the face are subject to the forces of gravity and facial expressions such as frowning. The movements in this lift section passively exercise the facial tissue helping to counteract these forces by facilitating muscle memory. The body then “remembers” where the tissue needs to be.
